Apologies for off topic but I've looked everywhere and don't

Using Fedora 16, latest Ruby and latest Rails.
I have been following Pragmatic Agile Web Dev with Rails 4th edition.
Have a scaffold person with some fields, it all works ok but I now
have a select list in the view and need to include a selection/choice
from that select list in the person table.
The Select list is generated from another table so that drop down
collection selections are not hard coded.
After googling and searching Rails sites for hours I have no idea where
else to look or who to ask. Can some one please point me where to obtain
such info please.
Is there a definitive work or set of tuts that show how to use data from
other tables, how to use join tables, how data from a number of tables
is stored and accessed for presentation in a view.
I've joined the Rails forum and Ruby forum but unlike the Linux forums
there seems no way to ask questions and get email answers.
Help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance.
I haven't used scaffolding in Rails for quite some time so I'm not clear
on what you're asking but have you tried asking this on Stack Overflow?
There are a lot of Rails devs on there & you'll generally get an answer
pretty quick.
As for tables & general MVC stuff, there's plenty of tutorials &
although I haven't used them, these guys <
http://net.tutsplus.com/> have
a pretty good reputation.
The Rails forums suffered from a lot of spam (as also did the Ruby one)
so they're snafu & also with all the security concerns at present about
Rails, everybody's caught up with that I should imagine.
Hope some of this is of some help to you. Good luck!
Cheers,
Phil...
