I was figuring out how to install an app, and made the .desktop

was there).
Is there some magic incantation to make gnome-shell notice
new app .desktop entries right away?
Just curious.
Possibly off topic but if I am not installing something by yum I put
the desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications. They show up just
fine in KDE.
