Of the acronyms, one of my favourites is GNU: Gnu is Not Unix.
Now, if you want to see silliness in action, check US military ones:
they love them acronyms because they think it makes them sound clever,
and want them to sound badass. So they come with a few which are made
by forcing together words that have no business being near each other
when using normal words would have made more sense.
