Mikkel L. Ellertson:
I am thinking that you may be stuck with the basic 16 colors that go
with the 640 x 480 x 16 color VESA mode.
You mean, white, yellow, cyan, green, magenta, red, blue, black, and the
second shades of the same ones? (digital RGBI VGA)
I wouldn't have thought so, though perhaps some hardware might have to
work that way. None of mine did.
Another interesting thing is that the splash.xpm file is not a 16
color image.
I can see why, otherwise you could end up with unreadable menus,
depending on the image you used (e.g. black text on dark grey).
