Any ideas why this error occurs even with the original non SMP kernel
configuration?
Because you did not rum "make oldconfig"?
Run make oldconfig twice (!) before you start compiling. Has been
discussed on this list a mio times, search the archives for
"active_load_balance" if you want more info.
