I installed Fedora 17 today. Finally got it fully updated.
Sound works fine when I run the test sound in Settings-> System

I have no sound from apps in a KDE session.

Everything looks find in alsamixer.
Any ideas on getting sound working in my session ?
Are you saying you've disabled pulse-audio? If not, then have you looked at the
settings shown in pavucontrol?
FWIW, when I installed skype on my F16 system I wanted to get skype to use my
Logitech headset. But, couldn't find a setting in skype to do it.
I ended up running skype's "echo test" while having pavucontrol up. It
showed the
application "skype" and that it was using the sound card. I was able to switch
it to
the headset though pavucontrol. So, if you happen to have more than one sound
device....the "wrong" one may be selected.
