Hi,
after successfully upgrading from F16 to F17 via anaconda/DVD, I get this after a "yum update". Does anybody know a solution?

Try "yum remove awesome ; yum distro-sync". Alternatively, since this is on x86_64, you could "yum remove …" the i686 packages and reinstall them if necessary.

by chance, do you have installed inF16 some 32 bit packages?? If so I suggest to remove them and anything will run fine

appers to be bug, it has been PR and seems a workaround is mentioned:

Taht didn't work. Besides, awesome is my main desktop environment (with XFCE as a backup).

That worked. Thanks to all for the fast response and good help!

That was based on this:
# yum list awesome Loaded plugins: auto-update-debuginfo, langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit Error: No matching Packages to list
Perhaps you've found it in some 3rd party repository.
