Hi,
I have two Manhattan "SATA Quick Dock" that I use for backup on HD and I used them without any problem before many times, but yesterday I tried and they are not seen anymore. When I connect the USB there is no reaction and "dmesg" doesn't show any attempt to connect to it, this on two machines (one F27 the other F28).
The USB port seems fine as I can connect a memory stick, and the docking stations and HD are working as one of the machine has an e-SATA port and I can connect the dock and use the HD using that. I tried different cables too, but nothing happens.
Was there any recent change (last time it worked was, I think, in May or June) in the USB device driver that can prevent the connection? Some settings to change?
Thanks for any help,
G

It's unlikely to be software, because the USB driver should at least get a notification that something was plugged in and that is working for other devices. My guess is that it's something with the docking stations, but it's really strange that it happened to both at the same time.
Are the docks USB 2 or 3? And same question for the memory stick you tried.
You could try booting an older kernel version and see if that changes anything. Are there any other computers around that you could try?

Well, I did a cold restart of all machines and cleaned all the contacts in the dock, and now everything works again, I have no idea what the problem was but it's fixed now....
Thanks to all,
