I need/want this program to work with Fedora 3.
I have followed this to the letter. and the files are in the folder.
But at the comand line when I type moneydance I get 'bash: moneydance:
command not found'

If you are just typing 'moneydance' and not
'/usr/local/moneydance/moneydance', you are not following the
instructions to the letter. :-)

Moneydance has its own version of java included in the tarball.

Did moneydance quit working when you upgraded to FC3? Or, did you
upgrade moneydance and the new version quit working?

Just in case, you migh want to check KMyMoney, but you migh have to
recompile it yourself if you want the most up-to-date version. They do
provide a SuSe rpm, but I don't know if it will work with Fedora. See:

and I got the following

I assume from this that /usr/local/bin is in my path... correct?

installing the programs using "yum" like
# yum install thunderbird
then, try
# yum install moneydance
and yum will install all the dependences needed. Don' t forget to
enter the source of the program in /etc/yum.conf

I am not sure.. what you mean by not having a GUI installed...
I am using gnome and Thunderbird right now.
Are there other 'packages' that I need to install?
I cannot locate this libxp.so.6
How do I go about getting this on my machice?

I found this ... info.
The solution to your problem is adressed in thread 26505. libXp.so.6 is
deprecated in Fedora Core 3 but is available in
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.1-12.i386.rpm on disk 2 of the installation
CDs. libXp.so.6 is also required by acrobat reader, which is why I
needed it. My thanks to "crackers" for identifying the fix.
and I got the rpm. I installed them updated them.. and moneydance
works... thank you.

I have not installed xorg -x11
and I used your lines of code... for the rpm and it did not work.
