xmms 1.2.10 problem with mp3

hi, i just got xmms 1.2.10 and xmms-mp3 1.2.10 using apt. it is not working. whenever i play any file, it creates a wave file from mp3 file in a home direcotry and scrollbar moves extreemely fast (indicating creation of wav file) what can be the problem ? am i specifying wrong plugin? or what else ? plz help. -mandar

Hi Mandar, you probably have 'Disk Writer' set as your output plugin by mistake. Make sure you select either ALSA, OSS, aRts, esd etc. HTH Andre -- Andre Oliveira da Costa

i solved the problem myself .. sorry for that foolish mail my o/p plugin was diskwriter .. so wav file output to disk was happening. now enjoying songs.. mp3s. -mandar

Where do you get xmms-mp3 1.2.10 from? I had 1.2.7 installed, from a yum repository (livna, i think), but it doesn't have 1.2.10. -- Colin Paul Adams Preston Lancashire

When I installed xmms-1.2.10, I did not need any mp3 plugin. It seemed to just come standard. I checked my RPM database for any xmms plugins, and no dice. So I dont think you need it. Austin Dams wrote:
