I am running FC2 and I have been keeping my updates current. Recently, I ran out of space on / and I can no longer do any updates. I have checked /var/log files, etc and everything appears to be in order. I have done that. /tmp and /var/log are not very big. The culprit seems to be packages in /usr/share like xemacs which I never use. I have only been installing/removing packages from the 'Add Remove Packages' tool. It no longer seems to works properly - now all it does is give me a long list of packages that are not installed and tell me that I cannot uninstall the packages I requested to be uninstalled. HOWEVER, I am running FC2 and the information at the URL indicates that is works for FC3. Does it also work for FC2?

The RPM database will think you still have those files, and it may confuse things at some point later. I would suggest you take a look at the contents of your /var directory. I recall that yum stores header files & rpms somewhere under there. Deleting old rpm files should free up space on the / partition.
