I haven't tried this, but if everything else works, you ought to be
able to make an image of /boot using dd. (/boot being a relatively
small partition.)
Yeah. I keep a 1GB /boot because of pre-upgrade and I also keep
Memtest86, MHDD, and SystemRescue CD images in /boot with grub
entries. I may try using dump/restore instead of 'dd' just to get some
experience with it.
