When you install the CLX3170 series driver, after you install the driver
there is no way to get the driver to work until you satisfy the 6-8 selinux
rules
Could you explain exactly what you had to do. I figure the post install
script of this CLX3170 series driver is moving files around and they become
mislabeled.

No, I wasn't kidding. I've never used a Samsung printer in my life and
had no way of knowing that.
I do know, however, that Lexmark printers work great if they work at
all. Alas, when my sister needed to reinstall Ubuntu, she never could
get her Lexmark printer working again, even with their help. No, I'm
not suggesting that you replace the printer (I hate throwing other
people's money at a problem.) just letting you know that if that's what
you end up doing, Lexmark might not be your best selection.

printer to work under F17 on this box, or you can't get F17 to run on
it? And, if disabling SELinux didn't help, it's not what's causing it.

there is no problems with cups when it comes to finding and installing
the CLX3175FN it uses the CLX3170 driver.

printer in cups? I have samsung laser 2850nd and working nice in F17,
connected on network of course.

Sorry for responding twice, but another thought occurred to me: so
far, all I've been doing is extracting[1] the information from you
that's needed to troubleshoot your printer issue, just like I did when
I did tech support for a living. One of the possible ways to solve
this is by getting assistance from the OEM, and there's no point in
our working on it unless you've already tried that. All we had to go
on at the start is that you couldn't get your printer to work with
F17. Everything else we now know about the issue was revealed one
tiny piece at a time in response to questions. If you'd told us at
the beginning that your printer worked under F15 and that after you'd
migrated to F17 via fresh install, it doesn't, even though you'd
installed the proper drivers, somebody on the list might have already
told you what's needed. As it is, we've wasted a day here, finding
this out.
One last question: when you installed the drivers and set the printer
up, were there any error messages, and if so, what were they?
[1]Rather in the sense of a dentist dealing with a bad tooth.
I guess I should have been a little clear about this driver, I have this
driver installed on Three other F17 boxes
and the only problem I had there was with F17 and Selinux ,you could set
a label for Selinux and the printer worked for about one week and then
Selinux would pop up with the same error again, F17 is surely having
problems with Selinux. I had to disable Selinux on these three boxes.
The box I'm having problems with is a HP 3gb processor , it work fine
with Fedora 15, but I can't get it to work on f17, even with Selinux
disabled. even if I did two fresh installs of Fedora.

Did it Just Work on F 15, or did you have to install drivers? If it
needed drivers, have you installed them on F 17. (Please note that

Had to install drivers from Samsung in F15 and in F17 they won't work.
I even disabled Selinux and that does not help.

Don't know if this is related, but worth a try? You've installed the Samsung
Unified Linux Driver you got from Samsung right? Well, looking back at some bugzillas
suggest their install doesn't play well.
restorecon /usr/lib64/cups/filter/rastertosamsung*
chown root:root /usr/lib64/cups/filter/rastertosamsung*
is suggested.
