It gets weirder. I find the only thing that won't start

Well, I finally gave up trying to understand. Now my
udev script touches a file, and a tiny daemon I start
when I login uses inotify to wait for the file to be
touched and starts RepetierHost from a program already
running in the X session.
Why this is necessary is a mystery I guess I'll never solve.
But it does work now. I plug in my printer and the
program starts up automagically again.
