I have installed frozen-bubble using both yum and synaptic but I get
loads of dependency errors when I try to run it...I d/loaded the src file and tried a
rebuild but I did not get an rpm output and did not get any error messages...Anyone got it
running ok ??

Running the FreshRPMs version just fine (which one are you trying?).
I did have to recompile Perl-SDL to make it work. Seems they were (are?)
having issues getting Perl-SDL to build in their environment. Can't seem
to find the thread on FreshRPM's list right now.

I did have to recompile Perl-SDL to make it work. Seems they were (are?)
having issues getting Perl-SDL to build in their environment. Can't seem

I used the Perl-SDL and Frozen Bubble from DAG and all seems to work
just fine.

The ones from freshrpms.net should work too at last now. The problem was
found by Ian Burrell, and is that XFree86-devel includes the
/usr/lib/libGLU.so symlink, but doesn't depend on XFree86-Mesa-libGLU where
the library actually is, which wasn't getting installed in a minimal
chroot. Time to bugzilla!

Frozen-bubble will not work if you install gimp-1.3.
If so, that might be specific to the freshrpms.net version of The Gimp
1.3. Other repositories (e.g. fedora.us) offer Gimp development packages
which co-exist with the stable gimp packages.

I haven't evaluated them, and hence I don't recommend them. I just
remember that several repositories offered gimp beta packages which
upgraded the stable versions included with Fedora Core or Red Hat Linux.

It does not upgrade 1.2 ... it installs 1.3 separately (since its beta)

It does not upgrade 1.2 ... it installs 1.3 separately (since its beta)
It's named "gimp-2.0.0" and then upgrades "gimp-1.2" unless you
install it
manually with "rpm -ivh". Since none of its files conflict with gimp 1.2,
it can coexist. On the contrary, fedora.us has named the gimp 1.3
development branch "gimp2-1.3", so tools like yum see both the stable
and the development package and don't upgrade the stable one with the
development version.
