For anyone reading this in the archives, the answer has nothing to
do with server configuration (in our case, anyway). It had to do
with a setting in Mozilla Mail. Right click on an email account
and go to properties. Then, after the mail and news account(s)
listed on the left is an entry for Outgoing Server (SMTP). Click
on that and untick the box for "Use name and password" and our
problem goes away.
Apparently having that ticked didn't cause any problems previously
but now it does.

Cryptplug (agypten-project) packages for fedora
by Rajko Albrecht
hi,
are there anywhere packages for the aegypten packages (libgcrypt, cryptplug
and so on) so I can use PGP/MIME within Kmail?
Or is there another trick to setup PGP/Mime for kmail? (GPG itself is
installed and works)
I tried to install libgcrypt myself but runs into some trouble 'cause missing
libraries (gpg-error for example) which is described as needed by gpgme but
gpgme is installed without that, I didn't found a gpg-devel or such....
Any hints?

by Wayne Spivak
Just got a new dell with the sata promise raid controller + 2 sata 120gb drives.
Fedora sees the driver (controller card) but not the drives (specifically it sees Intel PIIX/ICH ata controllers (ata-piix)
Any ideas

athlon related kernel source
by Jack Nicholas
Sorry for "newbie-ness" of question:
I'm told I need to download FC1 kernel source to /USR/SRC/ in order to
compile.
I have an Athlon XP processor. I assume I need to download the Athlon
related package, no?
When I installed FC1 did it make any difference whether my machin is
Athlon, i686, or whatever?
Thanks for any help.

Good Linux Hardware Review sites?
by Fred Smith
I'm considering replacing some hardware here (Mommyboard, CPU, etc.) and
can't find any online hardware review sites that routinely test with
Linux. Can anyone point me to some (even one would be a good start)?
Also, One board I'm considering is one of the AK3x series from Shuttle.
A couple of years ago their AK31A was well thought of as a good stable
low-priced board (not good for overclocking, but I don't wanna do that).
I see that there is now an AK38 and AK39, was wondering if anyone has
any experiences to tell with those boards?
Thanks!

Disable Wireless NIC?
by Jason Martens
I have FC1 installed on my laptop (Dell C640), and when I am connected
to my work network, the wireless card activates itself about every hour,
and overwrites my /etc/resolv.conf with wrong information. How can I
keep the card from activating itself?
Thanks,
Jason

Stupid Newbie
by Peter Cannon
Hi All
I have been using Redhat 9 for about four months, I am really proficient
at starting up and shutting down.
About 4 weeks ago I upgraded/Loaded Fedora and have had some problems
some of which I have solved and some are still outstanding.
Having said all of that I did a really, really stupid thing today, when
I installed Fedora I had a few error messages but pushed on through the
installation regardless, so I thought it would be a good idea (here
comes the stupid bit) to delete the system on the Red Hat site, then
delete /etc/sysconfig/rhn/systemid re register the system.
Oh dear a little knowledge is dangerous, now my up2date says " This
system may not be updated until it is associated with a channel." or
"the applet has been unable to access the following information sources
in its last attempts: fedora-core-1 @
http://fedora.redhat.com/releases/fedora-core-1, updates-released @
http://fedora.redhat.com/updates/released/fedora-core-1"
However when I try to associate with a channel on Redhats site the
website will net let me (possibly I'm doing something wrong).
Can anyone help me "please, please, pretty please" keep in mind that I
am a complete idiot and will need total hand holding (ie. click on this,
then this or type this, then this)
I hope someone will be kind enough to help as at the moment my laptop
cannot now auto update.
Thank you
Regards
Peter Cannon
