libbonobo upgrade problem
by Norman Nunn
After using up2date for libbonobo-2.6.2-1 and libbonobo-devel-2.6.2-1
upgrade, I immediately had a problem running evolution. My mail box
would not display.
Situation was corrected after replacing those updates with the older
package off the installation disk.

After YUM update New Kernel not recognized
by David White
Hello everyone,
YUM successfully updated all my RPMs ...but...
I received the following "critical information" from up2date...
Your systems is current running "Old Kernel." It is recommended that
you reboot at your first opportunity to test the "New Kernel."
I don't, however, use GRUB or LILO (I boot from a CD).
Is there any other way to complete the recognition process of the
updated kernel.
TIA

Convert CDIR notation to IP range
by John Nichel
Hi,
My binary skills are lacking, so does anyone know of a tool (online
or otherwise) to convert CDIR notation into the physical IP range? eg
convert 192.168.0.0/24 into 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.0.255 (so I can
see what the actual range is). TIA

RE: system clock is too slow
by Andrew_Morgan@Dell.com
But that battery is used when the system is turned off to keep the
systems clock running, issues have been seen before CMOS batteries. the
best thing to do to troubleshoot this problem is to leave the system in
bios, and watch the clock ticking.
If it still acts up in bios you definitely have a hardware failure, in
which situation you need to contact your hardware vendor and insist on a
replacement battery and or motherboard.
A bios flash would also be interesting, but chances are the manufacturer
will request this anyway.
Hope this helps!
Andrew

The MB battery that runs the clock chip should be good for several years
at least. This battery is separate from the main battery that powers the
computer itself.

mplayer, dvd playback and cpu usage
by Paolo Cavarretta
Dear All,
I used for a long time Fedora Core 1 on my 1GHz
Pentium III, 256Mb RAM and NVidia FX5200 grahic
chipset.
Mplayer was successfully playing dvd using more or
less 30% cpu.
Last Mont I upgraded to Fedora Core 2, installed the
latest driver from Nvidia (6106) from the nvidia site,
followed the same instruction as before included in
the readme file for the driver... but now the mplayer
use 100% cpu to playback dvd.
Also ogle and xine use the same amount of cpu :-(
HW is not changed, everything in the system tell me
that the pc is using hardware acceleration but I think
this not the case...how can I solve the problem?
thanks in advance,
Paolo
