OT: SF look alike
by Jamie Bohr
My company is splitting into 4 different companies and our internal Source
Forge server is going with on of them - ARG! I really hate to see SF go, I
fought to keep and lost. I have googled around and have found applications
that do this or that but non come even close to SF abilility. SF rocks!
I am looking for a SF equivalent and was wondering if any one know of one.
I have run across Eventum and like it but it seems to be missing a few
features I need. I would like something that can track issues, save
supporting documentation files, CVS like revision control, ability to update
issues via email, some type of reporting and if it could track tasks
separate from issues that would be icing on the cake.

fc5 firefox won't open pdf: Unhandled MIME type: 'application/octet-stream'
by sean darcy
Since upgrading to fc5 firefox won't show pdf docs. I can
save the doc and open it in acroread, evince, etc.
When firefox tries to to show a pdf file I get an error window:
Unable to open document
Unhandled MIME type: 'application/octet-stream'
I've messed with mozpluggerrc to use acroread, then I tried
evince. Same problem.
FWIW, x86_64.
Any help appreciated

evince can't view pdf file 'test.pdf' as 'test'
by Yuandan Zhang
Hi,
when view a pdf file, for example, test pdf,
evince test.pdf OK
xpdf test.pdf OK
when file name changed to 'test'
xpdf test OK (loaded as the pdf file),
evince test => ERROR to load
evince seems can't see it as pdf file, but issues an error
Unhandled MIME type: 'application/octet-stream'.
How to configure it and make evince detect the pdf file, not only rely on
the file name extension?

the safety of gnupg
by Tim
I've just been reading some rather silly things about gnupg except for
one practical point: Who has actually checked the source code for it to
see whether it's trustworthy, etc?
And, of course, the next thing would be: Who would they be that we
could trust them, too? After a bit of Googling around, I'm darned if I
can find out, nor think of the right terms to search for.
Naturally, this extends to other open-source programs. Which ones do
get vetted?

Open Source Paging Software
by Al Sparks
Does anyone have some sort of paging service? Is there open source SW
out there?
We mostly have Dell's 1850 and 2850 slabs. How easy would it be to get
a modem card that would work with that?

/dev/tape
by Les Mikesell
After installing FC5, I don't see /dev/tape showing up as a symlink
to /dev/nst0 anymore and it disappears after a reboot if I add one
manually to make mt and amanda work. The tape drive wasn't attached
when I installed - would that make a difference?
/etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules does have an entry:
KERNEL=="nst[0-9]", BUS=="scsi", SYMLINK+="tape-%k", MODE="0660"
and I do have /dev/nst0. Does it need something else?
