nfs-utils dependency problem
by Kazutoshi Morioka
Today's nfs-utils-lib and libgssapi causes serious dependency problem.
--> Processing Dependency: librpcsecgss.so.1 for package: nfs-utils
--> Processing Dependency: libgssapi.so.1 for package: nfs-utils
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: librpcsecgss.so.1 is needed by package nfs-utils
Error: Missing Dependency: libgssapi.so.1 is needed by package nfs-utils
This dependency will never be solved because core repository still be holding
nfs-utils-1.0.8.rc2-4.FC5.2 which has (accidentlly) newer release number than
nfs-utils-1.0.8.
Are you say that all FC5 users must add a exclude= statement to yum.conf, and
manually download nfs-utils, nfs-utils-lib, libgssapi, and apply this
manually? No thanks.
Incrementing epoc may solve this problem.
And new nfs-utils-lib and libgssapi packages was not even tested yet
because of same dependency problem in the updates-testing, and
nfs-utils-1.0.8-1.FC5.i386 was missing in the updates-testing.
No one tested these packages!
It should be removed from updates-released.

where to find libiec61883 1.1.0 or newer ...
by mikeytheu@aim.com
Hi! I'm a newbie in the whole Linux world, but ...
Where can I find libiec61883 1.1.0 or newer for fc5 x86_64? ... I'm
installing the FreeBoB project
(http://freebob.sourceforge.net/index.php/Main_Page) and it requires
libiec61883 1.1.0 or newer, but I have version 1.0.0 and FreeBoB
installation says:
"checking for LIBIEC61883...
configure: error: Package requirements (libiec61883 >= 1.1.0) were not
met:
Requested 'libiec61883 >= 1.1.0' but version of libiec61883 is 1.0.0
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBIEC61883_CFLAGS
and LIBIEC61883_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details."
Everything else is OK, but this one ...
please help me ...
Thanks in advance!

pam_mount causing gdm problems[Scanned]
by Chris Bradford
Hi guys,
I'm trying to get pam_mount working to mount shares on user logon. The
process works fine, but when a user logs off and then another user logs
in gdm fails to load. All I get is a black background and a mouse
pointer which does move. The system will sit there indefinitely like
this. If I reboot a new user can log in.
Any ideas as to what is causing this?
Many thanks,
-Chris

gdm.conf seems to have gone in FC5
by Colin Paul Adams
It appears that gdm.conf has been removed (I can see a .rpmsave
version).
What is the recommended way to run X servers on 2 different VTs now?
If I try creating a gdm.conf by hand, it works, but I lose sound.

KDSKBENT errors
by Petr Danecek
Hello,
when i am running Fedora Core 4 with a custom kernel, i get the
following errors when logging in as an ordinary user:
Keymap 0: Permission denied
Keymap 1: Permission denied
Keymap 2: Permission denied
KDSKBENT: Operation not permitted
loadkeys: could not deallocate keymap 3
Logging in as a root is ok.
Why am i getting these errors? What modules must be compiled in the
kernel to get rid of these?
Best regards,
Petr Danecek

pam_radius_auth on FC5
by Mathew Snyder
Has anyone ever got pam_radius_auth 1.3.16 working on FC%? I can't get
it to compile. It keeps spitting out all kinds of errors. The engineer
here at work had it working before I rebuilt the machine to test out an
installation script but now it falls on its face.

And to make KDE the one that is always started when you log in...
in the file --> /etc/sysconfig/desktop
put --> DESKTOP="KDE"

2.6.17-1.2139 and my wireless card won't work again :-)
by Knute Johnson
I updated my kernel and now my wireless card won't work. I have a
Linksys WPC54GS card and have been using ndiswrapper and
wpa_supplicant with no problems. Well not exactly, the last couple
of kernels required me to use an older version of ndiswrapper, 1.14.
Other than that it worked great. Now with 2.6.17-1.2139 I can't get
it to work at all. The interesting thing is that the system-config-
network program sees the card now and it never did before. It
doesn't appear to support WPA however so I would like to use
ndiswrapper and wpa_supplicant. wpa_supplicant won't load now and
reports:
Starting wpa_supplicant: ioctl [SIOCSIWPMKSA]: No such device
This is new to this kernel version.
Anybody got one of these cards working?
Thanks,
