Alternative to VNC that yields sound?
by Colin Paul Adams
Hello,
I want to be able to connect to my Linux desktop from my Macbook Air,
in order to warch DVDs. VNC works, but as it doesn't support sound,
this is not too useful.
Is there an alternative that will give me sound too?

E-mail Server
by Leon Vergottini
Hi
I have been tasked to commissioned an e-mail server in the first
quarter of next year. I got this task because I am the only one at work
that plays and have a small bit of understanding of how Linux work. So,
I am on a research spree. I have already had a look at the following sites:
The Linux document project
How to forge
Flurdy.com
I do not ask for step by step instructions, although it will be nice,
however I ask that you guys will point me to resources on the internet
that may help me in this regard.
Thank you very much

Object::connect: (sender name: 'file_close')
Any suggestions ?

Hi!
Same problem: F10 on Dell Latitude D830 with kernel
2.6.27.9-159.fc10.x86_64 no audio.
With kernel 2.6.27.7-134.fc10.x86_64 audio works perfectly.
Thanks!

Can't See Text
by Devin Garman
I have been having some problems lately and I was wandering if anyone can
point me in the direction of a solution. Please keep in mind that I am a
Linux novice.
Right now I am running Fedora 10 on a Dell Latitude C640 laptop. My laptop
battery has gone bad and can no longer hold a charge, and I haven't gotten
my replacement yet. I can only run my laptop when it is plugged in. If the
power cord gets unplugged, my laptop shuts off instantly. This has now
happened to me on two occasions, causing my laptop to be improperly shut
down.
Each time this has happened, I restart my computer to find that all the text
on my computer has either disappeared or turned to gibberish, including that
on the start up screen, all the menus, in my web browser, and every where
else as far as I can tell. The only way I have been able to fix this
problem thus far is by completely reloading my computer with a fresh install
of fedora 10. I was wandering if anyone knows a better solution.
Thanks,
Devin J. Garman

Are SCSI only computers supported by f10 ?
by Genes MailLists
I tried to install f10 on a scsi (dell with adaptec scsi controllers)
only computer today .. install seemed to go fine - however upon
rebooting I get this lovely message :
mount: error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: No such file or
directory
After googling a bit - and reading
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=466607
I tried the following all to no avail:
1) created a new initrd including "scsi_wait_scan" module
I used live cd to do this. But, same problem
2) I tried to boot live cd and attempt to update the install hoping
that newer versions coreutils, kernel, nash, fakeroot or hal-info might
help ... but:
I mounted the installed root directory and chrooted to it.
However neither yum nor rpm will work in a chrooted environment.
in the live boot cd - is there any way to update the install on
the hard drive ?
Appreciate any help booting this lovely pc .. please ?
This machine was happily running fedora 6 ...
thanks for any help.

libdrm-2.4.3 needs pthreads-stubs, not available for fedora, why?
by Gene Heskett
Greetings all, see subject.
libxcb-devel (and libxcb) are ancient and do not contain the required
headers. I have enabled enough stuff to see F11 in yumex, and its still the
F8 version even then.
The problem is?
Thanks & Merry Christmas to all.
