udev messed up again
by Aaron Konstam
Well I see someone messed up udev again. I can no longer play Audio CDs
automagically in F11. No icon shows up when the CD is inserted and no
program is launched.
I know . File a Bugzilla. Well the last time a Bugzilla was filed on
this nothing was done about it but to break the solution that was found
by someone who was not developer , I think. Aram Agajanian, correct me
if I am wrong.
When is this problem going to be dealt with, or has it been dealt with
and I missed it?

When will totem play Apple.com/trailers again?
by Andre Costa
Hi,
it's been 2 months already[1] since Apple has changed the way they stream
trailers from Apple.com/trailers, and ever since totem chokes on it.
According to the last comment[2] on that post, this issue has already been
fixed on gecko-mediaplayer. Any plans on implementing a similar fix on totem
as well, considering it is the default media player plugin shipped by
Fedora?
For the record: I blame this totally on Apple, and it sucks to play catch
up, but it's not the first time this happens, and it won't be the last
either...
BTW: I know there's a workaround involving wget and a custom user-agent id,
but it's somewhat cumbersome, and it's annoying that this is taking so long
to be fixed (even considering it's not a totem bug per se).
Regards,
Andre

nautilus-sound-converter in F11
by Ranbir
Hi Everyone,
I have nautilus-sound-converter installed so that I may convert selected
audio files to a different format from within Nautilus. In this case, I
want to convert from flac to mp3. However, the drop down list box
doesn't let me choose "mp3" as a format to convert to.
If I edit the conversion profiles, I can see "CD Quality, MP3" in the
list. The profile is enabled, and I have lame installed (which does the
actual conversion).
Does anyone know why the MP3 profile isn't available in the drop down
list? This used to work very well in F10.
Regards,
Ranbir

Can't edit text -
by Bob Goodwin
I have two completely updated F-11 computers in which the OpenOffice
word processor is nearly useless because I can't edit anything?
I can open a document and copy it to a new file but it doesn't trust
me to change anything, a matter of permissions perhaps but I can't
see where to change it.
Am I alone in this, can anyone tell me what I need to do?

Fedora PPC for oldworld Mac?
by Tony Nelson
Does Fedora PPC work / install on oldworld PCI Macs, such as a beige G3
desktop? My impression is not.
Otherwise I'm going to try Debian Lenny, which is said to work, but
about which I know nothing. (The machine has 416 MB memory and I'll
install a 40 GB hard disk for Linux, so other than speed it should be
good to go.)

Radeon DRM issues and filling up /var/log with gigabytes of logging
by Philip Prindeville
I'm running FC11 with:
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.4-0.1.fc11.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-14.fc11.x86_64

etc.
The hardware is an Asus M3A78-CM motherboard with onboard video.
I'm seeing the following filling up my /var partition in

I wasn't getting these when I was running FC10, which supposedly came
with an earlier version of xorg-x11-drv-*... or possibly the kernel (and
the DRM modules).
This is rendering the machine largely unusable, because rpmbuild, mock,
sendmail, etc. all need large amounts of space on /var.
My config file is below.
Anyone know what the remedy to this issue is?
Thanks,
-Philip
