Apparently Incomplete Fedup 18->19
by Tim Evans
Nearly everything seems to suggest that my fedup upgrade from F18 only
partially F19 succeeded.
$ cat /etc/fedora-release
Fedora release 19 (Schrödinger’s Cat)
$ head /var/log/boot.log
[ OK ] Started Show Plymouth Boot Screen.
[ OK ] Reached target Basic System.
Welcome to Fedora 19 (Schrödinger’s Cat)!
But, the blue progress bar during bootup shows "Fedora 18."
Kernel appears to be F18, though:
$ uname -a
Linux harrier.xxx.com 3.9.11-200.fc18.i686.PAE #1 SMP Mon Jul 22
21:19:06 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
By way of additional info, after running fedup with no errors, I
rebooted, picking the "Fedora Upgrade" option. Then went to dinner.
When I returned, the system was *powered completely down*. Booting it
revealed the F18 message on the progress bar.
yum update shows a string of "some-package.fc19 is a duplicate of
same-package.fc18
I don't see anything untoward in /var/log/fedup.log. Seems whatever has
happened occurred after the reboot into the upgrade.
Thanks.

Re: When booting F19, and so on....
by Quicksort
Hello Roger,
Same symptoms, booting always fails the first time
while all subsequent attempts are successful.
What puzzles me, however, is that I experienced
for the first time one week ago this kind of problem
with F19 x64 Gnome and never with F15 or F17.

Hi Q
My patience runs out after 5-10 seconds and I tap the reboot button on
the pc and the problem goes away for a couple of starts.
I have found that the problem occurs more frequently after I've been
running Ubuntu on another hard drive or Fedora 16, then it will not warm
boot past the Fedora balloon, I have to shut down and restart after 5
seconds.
I'm thinking there's been a boot problem since Fedora 16 and it hasn't
yet been discovered or resolved.

portable USB drive automatically remounts after unmounting
by Andre Robatino
My portable USB drive that usually automatically remounts after unmounting
with gnome-disks. I am running F19. I have to unmount several times before
it finally stays unmounted (at which point it also powers off). In F18, it
would always stay unmounted, but never power off. Is this a common problem?
If so, is there an existing bug?

Re: HTML5
by ed
I am currently running many web sites that utilize HTML 5 and validate
each page with the HTML validator at http://validator.w3.org/ You can
validate via file upload or by address. While this is experimental, I
have found it to be an invaluable source.
I would also validate your Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) to make sure it
conforms to HTML5. You must use CSS Level 3. There are many changes in
HTML 5 and you can find the differences between 4 and 5 here

Brosix on Fedora 19
by Roger
Trying to run Brosix.
rpm installed it ok - it's in /usr/bin/brosix but will not start from
the menu or terminal.
In terminal $ brosix
/usr/share/brosix/Brosix.bin: error while loading shared libraries:
libv4l2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
locate libv4l2.so.0
/usr/lib64/libv4l2.so.0
/usr/lib64/libv4l2.so.0.0.0
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib64
PATH="$PATH:/usr/bin/brozix"
in .bashrc does not help.
What am I not seeing, how should this be fixed please?
TIA

F20 Udev js help needed
by Frank Murphy
Though F20, general Fedora js problem.
Following the link below:
http://raftaman.net/?p=300
4. Udev Auto-Magic
5. Mounting script
I know udev has changed to js,
Also due to the fact that USB stick can die,
I want to clone\copy(?) this on 4xusb sticks
So rather than manufacturer,
thinking of Label=foo
So how can I guarantee that all of the 4 sticks,
will end up as the same path.

F19: Creative Labs [SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio] CA0110-IBG - no sound in headphones
by Mateusz Marzantowicz
Hello,
I'm fighting with my sound card, which is X-Fi Xtreme Audio (Creative
Labs [SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio] CA0110-IBG). Everything but headphones works
perfectly. When jack is plugged correctly, headphones are identified and
shown in GNOME sound applet, but there is no sound. When jack is plugged
partially (I think connectors are swapped by one), I hear the sound but
headphones are not present in sound applet.
Everything worked in Fedora 17 so it might be some regression

Re: When booting F19 x64 Gnome often hangs...
by Roger
Have you noticed that Fedora 19 also hangs if there are several windows
and terminals open.
I often have Nautilus, at least 2 terminals, geany and chrome and
sometimes firefox open and intermittently everything except mouse stops.
top still functions and is uninformative and there's nothing in
/var/log/messages, system monitor shows nothing untoward, 60%memory,
cpus running between 60 and 80%.
Oh I'm using cinnamon not gnome3.
I have to click on the X shut down button (top right corner) on each
window and terminal till I find one that closes, because the keyboard
is also locked, close all and reopen again, all is normal for some time
till it locks again.
This is the first Fedora where I have experienced this problem.
