Q about TB and sent mail
by JD
Using TB 38.1.0
When I used to send email via TB, I would be able
to see that sent message in the Sent folder when I
logged in to my account via the web browser.
But has not been happening for quite some time.
I no longer see my sent messages which I send via TB,
in the Sent folder via the web browser.
Is this some specific settings issue?
P.S> I have no filters set in my account at gmail.

fedora-dockerfiles: "LABEL" lines in cockpit-ws sample file look weird
by Robert P. J. Day
brief digression from my discussion of docker roadmap and stuff like
that ... i'm using the sample Dockerfiles from the
"fedora-dockerfiles" package to demonstrate various Dockerfile
instructions in an upcoming course, and i ran across this:
cockpit-ws/Dockerfile:LABEL INSTALL /usr/bin/docker run -ti --rm --privileged -v /:/host IMAGE /container/atomic-install
cockpit-ws/Dockerfile:LABEL UNINSTALL /usr/bin/docker run -ti --rm --privileged -v /:/host IMAGE /cockpit/atomic-uninstall
cockpit-ws/Dockerfile:LABEL RUN /usr/bin/docker run -d --privileged --pid=host -v /:/host IMAGE /container/atomic-run --local-ssh
i have no idea what those lines mean, they don't even seem valid as
the documentation suggests the proper form of a Dockerfile LABEL
instruction requires an "=" sign.
what does the above mean, if anything?

perl/XS
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I updated fedora 20 to fedora 22.
Now, I am in trouble with my perl library.
I tried to understand, but I cannot find any explanation. Hence, I am
think if there is not an issue with the perl library
I got:
Can't load '/home/pdupre/perl_lib/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/Werf/Werf.so' for module Werf: libperl.so.5.18: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /usr/share/perl5/XSLoader.pm line 68.
at /home/pdupre/perl_lib/i386-linux-thread-multi/Werf.pm line 58.
Compilation failed in require at ./test.pl line 9.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./test.pl line 9.
when I run my perl file calling Werf
Why perl want to load libperl.so.5.18 while the perl version is 5.20?
I recompiled my library and installed properly.
Actually, it is
/home/pdupre/perl_lib/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/Werf/Werf.so
Did something have change?
How can I for force perl to load the right library?
Would it be an issue with?

RE: IP Security Cameras
by Steve Berg
Take a look at zoneminder (www.zoneminder.com). There's lots of IP cameras available and zoneminder will use many of them with very little hassle. I've had good luck with cameras from GrandStream, 1080p, night vision, power over ethernet support. The camera itself wants a Windows directx in order to view streams directly, but if you ignore that and access through zoneminder they work very nicely.

I've just been informed of an issue at my family's business in Ohio.
They are being targeted by some local hoodlums, and are looking for a
security camera system.
The business runs Linux on all office equipment, so I was hoping there
was a Linux security solution that can use IP cameras for recording. Is
anyone using a setup like this? What do you use, and how do you like it?

Desktop Switching Tool
by JD
The Desktop Switcher:
System -> Control Center
opens up the gui app for all kinds of system settings.
One of them, in the System group, is called Desktop Switching Tool.
When selecting this tool, it displays the names of several DT's:
Gnome
KDE
TWM
FVWM
ICEWM
System Defaults
But no selection available for Mate.
Is this something that the Mate devs should address, or some other group?

what is the current state of docker on fedora documentation?
by Robert P. J. Day
hi, i'm currently writing a course on docker (specifically, docker
on fedora, FWIW), and i'm looking for the current state of docker
documentation on fedora, whatever that might be.
a quick google for "fedora" and "docker" brings one here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Getting_started_with_docker
but that wiki page is clearly out of date as it refers to the fedora
package "docker-io", which doesn't exist anymore in fedora 22.
in addition, i'm interested in the docker roadmap for fedora, as i
know there's some current renaming of other docker-related packages,
so i'd like to know what to expect in the near future.
any pointers to online fedora/docker stuff greatly appreciated.

Compiling llvm examples on Fedora
by Suvayu Ali
Hi,
I wanted to play around with the examples provided by llvm-doc. But I
can't figure out exactly how to compile them. Using the provided
Makefile seems impossible, it includes several other Makefiles from the
llvm source tree, namely Makefile.{common,config,rules}. Even if I
manage to copy over two of the files (common and rules) from the
upstream repo, finding the config file seems very difficult. It is
generated by configure before compilation. So I decided to use cmake.
This is what I did:
$ cp -R /usr/share/doc/llvm-doc/examples/Fibonacci /tmp/
$ mkdir /tmp/Fibonacci/build
$ pushd /tmp/Fibonacci/build/
edit ../CMakeLists.txt and add the two following lines at the top:
set(CMAKE_MODULE_PATH /usr/share/llvm/cmake)
# find_package(LLVM)
include(AddLLVM)
Running
$ cmake ..
gives me the following errors:
CMake Error at /usr/share/llvm/cmake/AddLLVM.cmake:443 (set_output_directory):
set_output_directory Function invoked with incorrect arguments for function
named: set_output_directory
Call Stack (most recent call first):
/usr/share/llvm/cmake/AddLLVM.cmake:481 (add_llvm_executable)
CMakeLists.txt:16 (add_llvm_example)
Uncommenting the find_package lines seems to produce even more similar
copious errors.
Anyone has experience with this, ideas?
TIA,

fedup 20 -> 22 -> improper X rendering
by Rich Emberson
I used to update:
> fedup --network 22 --product=nonproduct
Coming up in graphical target as default.target, KDE X does
not render properly.
With right click I a small box appears under the cursor,
navigating to what I guess is the first menu item, I can
start a console.
A box appears. I click into it and type:
> xterm
Another box appears and I can launch another xterm from it.
At any of the xterm's (and console) I can enter commands.
The area where the xterm prints my input text and any resulting
output text is drawn ... but not the rest of the xterm (which
remains the background image).
I can find the top of the xterm box and move it ... it leaves
a trail of sides of the xterm as it is moved.
Any xterm over which I move another xterm, does not refresh
it self.
Basically, X is unusable.

I saved the machine I do most of my work on for the
last ... after all others managed to go from 20 -> 22
(with some bumps along the way).
Alas, success elsewhere did not guarantee success with my main machine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
