Fedora22 Security Issue.
by Scott Mattan
I havent tried comparing yet but ive verified that disabling various
combinations on the cent machine does not produce the same results.
I understand that this is not a perfect method and will take a look as soon
as i get home at the very latest by tomorrow JST, and then report back

Another DNF quesiton?
by Michael D. Setzer II
Just updated a number of machines to Fedora 22 including the 20 i7
machines in my classroom. With yum I had an issue with updates using au
and nz sites, which were physically closer, but all traffic from Guam goes to
US via bigger pipes and thise was support slow. Modified the repo files with
&country=us and this worked great, but now using dnf it is slow doing
updates.
Unlike yum, it doesn't show the repos that are being used.
The option is still in the repo files, but don't know if dnf doesn't use it, or if dnf
is still using us sites, but is just slower.

Fedora22 Security Issue.
by Scott Mattan
Hello,
I am seeing some disparity between (two distributions granted) CentOS 6.6
and Fedora22 in their use of the su utility. I cannot figure out the
cause, so I cannot fix it.
In CentOS there is no way to script login to root... this is of course a
desirable trait.
for instance,
[ user@localhost user ]$ su root <<EOF
> password
> echo ""
> id
> EOF
standard in must be a tty
However, Fedora22 allows this action... where is the file which I must edit
to enable this security setting?
{ (^-^) user /home/user } su root <<EOF
> password
> echo ""
> id
> EOF
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)
context=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023
Thanks for the help in advance.

dnf downloadonly -
by Bob Goodwin
How do I download a thunderbird rpm for Fedora 22? I'm sure Mozilla will
provide one. dnf install thunderbird will do it but that does not give
me an rpm I can use for another install.
Normally this is not a problem but in messing with thunderbird I have
been forced to dnf install a copy each time I want to start over which
seems a waste. especially when my Viasat usage is limited to an
allocated amount each month ...

dcfldd for F22?
by Robert Moskowitz
I encountered use of dcfldd recently and it seems like a valuable
alternative to dd, but I can't find it already built for F22.
Is anyone familiar with this and perhaps know if it is available
anywhere for F22?

current/proposed docker-related packages?
by Robert P. J. Day
sorry to harp on this, but what is the plan for various
docker-related packages, particularly related to clustering and
orchestration? i can see there is a fedora consul package, but what
about things like compose and swarm? are there plans for fedora
packages for those, or should one just install them straight from
docker?

still setting up my new fedora 22... I forgot about local user email &

Sending a desktop to a big screen
by Amit Prahesh
Hi there,
imagine a medium sized office room, where four engineers hack away (all of
them currently have Fedora 22 workstations, to stay on topic.) On that room
there's a fifth PC, hooked to a big TV on the wall (also running F22) that
has Firefox running full screen with some visualization of sorts (dashboard
thingy). Those five computers are all on the company wired network...
nothing you haven't seen a thousand times before.
Now, Sally, one of the engineers wants to share her desktop with the others
and uses application XYZ to project/cast/extend/send it to the big TV (via
its PC, of course). All of them discuss whatever was on her mind, and five
minutes later, she closes application XYZ and the office goes back as it
was before. Fred wants to do the same, and he does. Actually all of them
can.
They asked me what is XYZ.
I was thinking on a member of the VNC family, but what they want to do is
the reverse of what one normally do with VNC. To make things more...
interesting? XYZ must never go out of the corporate LAN and if it were Open
Source, the better.
Any ideas on XYZ?
Best regards,
Amit.
PS. Erm... one last thing. If there's a solution, could it include sending
the audio as well?
