Anyone use spf and dmarc and dkim?
by Thomas Cameron
I have set up spf, dmarc, and dkim for my email domain. It *seems* to
work well. I tested it by sending an email to my GMail account. When I
look at the headers of the email, GMail says that it passes all three tests:
> ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx.google.com;
> dkim=pass header.i=(a)camerontech.com header.s=default
> header.b=My0caSvG;
> spf=pass (google.com: best guess record for domain of
> thomas.cameron(a)camerontech.com designates 3.138.45.83 as permitted
> sender) smtp.mailfrom=thomas.cameron(a)camerontech.com;
> dmarc=pass (p=NONE sp=NONE dis=NONE) header.from=camerontech.com
>
But then, when I do something like send email to this list, I suddenly
get a TON of error messages saying that the email failed spf tests
because it's coming from the server of the mailing list instead of my
email server. Is that normal? It's kind of frustrating. I added the ip
address of the Fedora list server to my spf record, but that seems
really hackish.
What do folks do to set up email with dmarc, spf, and so on?

No Wifi in F36
by Stephen Morris
Hi,
Having upgrade my system now to an Asus Rog Crosshair VIII Dark
Hero motherboard with 802.11ax wifi which matches my 802.11ax wifi
router, an Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card with 12GB of memory, and AMD
Ryzen 9 5950x 16 core cpu, 64GB of 3600 memory, liquid cooled cpu cooler
and 1000W power supply I have stopped running my system in raid and
stopped running Fedora in a VM.
Having now directly installed Fedora 36 I have both wifi and
ethernet configured in Networkmanager, with wifi configured to
autoconnect and ethernet isn't, but when I start up Fedora I have no
internet access as the only access Fedora sees is ethernet which has to
be started manually to get internet access, and even after activating
the ethernet interface Fedora still cannot see any wifi nodes to connect
to. There isn't any issue with the wifi adapter as I am using that quite
happily under windows.
What am I missing in the installation to get wifi available?
regards,
Steve

how now to set ibus (Intelligent Pinyin) font size?
by home user
When trying to enter Chinese characters into text via ibus in (g)vim,
LibreOffice, etc., ibus's menu of candidate characters uses a font size
that is too small (see attached screen capture), and does not match the
setting in ibus's preferences. This issue came up before, in the winter
of 2019; see this thread:
I read through the thread and checked/did what Ed Greshko and Peng Wu
suggested. I get a message that "gnome-shell-extension-prefs is
deprecated". Something has changed. How do I now get ibus to use the
larger font size that I want? If I need to install something, I ask
that it be done with dnf (apparently Fedora's preferred way of
installing and updating), not flatpaks, not gnome's "software", not (etc.).
There are two bugs relevant to ibus fonts:
but both were fixed before my winter 2019 thread.
By the way, Ed Greshko was one of the key helps in my winter 2019
thread, but I haven't seen any posts in this list recently. Is he still
with us? Is Peng Wu a member of this list?

Fedora-36: Null Names for a Virtual Desktop Locks up the System
by Jonathan Ryshpan
Here's what I did:
* Invoked System Settings -> Workspace Behavior -> Virtual Desktops
* Set the name of a desktop to null using the pen and backspace key
* Hit Apply
The system is now well and truly locked up; the best way out seems to
be a reboot.
System is:
Operating System: Fedora Linux 36
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

gvim print font
by Michael Hennebry
The font gvim uses when printing is annoyingly faint.
The font gedit uses works for me.
How do I find out what font gedit is
using and tell gvim to use that font?
I'm running F35.
