Android Nearby Share?
by Patrick O'Callaghan
Does anyone know if there's a way to get Android's Nearby Share feature
to work on Linux? Apparently the Google code is on GitHub and has a
free license (Apache 2.0), but I don't see anything in the Fedora
repos.

Copy Paste using whatsapp web on firefox doesn't work
by ogio.spam
Hi all,
I'm not sure who is responsible but the situation is like that:
1. WhatsApp web opened
2. Select text from a chat, ctrl-c or "menu copy"
3. Paste in another chat (ctrl-v or paste) works well
4. Paste in other application works well
5. Select text from another app
6. Paste in a chat doesn't work
7. Copy from another tab in firefox and paste in a chat doesn't work
Same test on google-chrome is working perfectly
As I don't know how whatsapp web is working, there is a simple way to
remove all information about whatsapp from firefox and restart it?
As you think, where I can issue a bug report?

dnf install stuck
by Mike Wright
Hi all,
2 f38 hosts. 1 dnf install xxx works fine. Very fast. 2) spins
forever: dnf.log shows
Error during transfer: Curl error (28): Timeout was reached for
https://mirrors.fedo...
Web searches show this to be common. It also showed the cures to "just
wait", reboot, "try it again". Nothing definitive.
Any body know how to move on from here?

More hibernation mystery
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I have set up a nightly hibernation routine (see below) but it
sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It appears to be completely
random.
When I invoke it manually, via 'systemctl hibernate' it invariably
works.
$ systemctl status hibernate-preparation hibernate-resume
○ hibernate-preparation.service - Enable swap file and disable zram before hibernate
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/hibernate-preparation.service; enabled; preset: disabled)
Drop-In: /usr/lib/systemd/system/service.d
└─10-timeout-abort.conf
Active: inactive (dead)
○ hibernate-resume.service - Disable swap after resuming from hibernation
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/hibernate-resume.service; enabled; preset: disabled)
Drop-In: /usr/lib/systemd/system/service.d
└─10-timeout-abort.conf
Active: inactive (dead)
$ cat hibernate-preparation.service
[Unit]
Description=Enable swap file and disable zram before hibernate
Before=systemd-hibernate.service
[Service]
User=root
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/bin/bash -c /usr/sbin/swapon /SWAP/swapfile && /usr/sbin/swapoff /dev/zram0
[Install]
WantedBy=systemd-hibernate.service
$ cat hibernate-resume.service
[Unit]
Description=Disable swap after resuming from hibernation
After=hibernate.target
[Service]
User=root
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/swapoff /SWAP/swapfile
[Install]
WantedBy=hibernate.target
When it fails, I get this in the journal:
Aug 13 01:05:25 Bree systemd[1]: Reached target sleep.target - Sleep.

The difference is that in the failure case it's not seeing the swap
file, but that file always exists and has the correct permissions:
# ls -lhZ /SWAP/swapfile
-rw-------. 1 root root unconfined_u:object_r:swapfile_t:s0 32G Jul 12 12:46 /SWAP/swapfile
# df -h /SWAP

- 1.9T 1.6T 246G 87% /SWAP
[root@Bree log]# file /SWAP
/SWAP: directory
(/SWAP is a BTRFS subvolume with COW turned off)
I'm at a loss. Any thoughts?

recommended key pair encryption
by Mike Wright
Hi all,
I recall a discussion that may have said RSA was not being accepted in
f38 and a different type was being preferred, possibly ecdsa?
Can anybody point me to that? (date or subject would help me search)
I generated an ECDSA pair. The public key seems awfully short.
Thanks

DNF5 feature status.
by Joel Naya
Hello everyone,
I've been using dnf5 for almost a month and have done updates including
kernel updates and everything seems to be working well.
Dnf-3 has a feature of downloading source code directly from the repository
which is absent in dnf5. Will it be implemented anytime soon? dnf-3 on my
machine is very slow so I have to rely on dnf5.
Thanks.

Printer settings?
by Alex
Hi, I have a fedora38 desktop install, and when I go to the main System
Settings menu, there is no option to configure printers in the Hardware
section.
What package am I missing in order to configure/detect/install new printers?
This is a complete reinstall on the same computer where I had fedora37. I
have a Brother HL-L2370DW series printer.
The printer is available when I try to print from gnome-text-editor, but
not from within Chrome. I think it must be automatically detected each time
I try to print with gedit, but it appears more is needed to be set up with
Chrome, which I would imagine starts with proper CUPS configuration.
I'm aware of the web-browser interface to CUPS, but want to use the GNOME
interface to start instead.
Thanks,
Alex

nftables and selinux
by François Patte
Bonjour,
I come accross a problem with nftables: it was impossible to start
nftables, the error message is:
internal:0:0-0: Error: Could not open file
"/etc/sysconfig/nftables.conf": Permission denied
This file /etc/sysconfig/nftables.conf has 755 permissions.
I tried to get informatons from the internet but did not find a
solution.
I tested wether it was a selinux problem and I won...
setenforce 0
solved the problem....
Now I went back to setenforce 1 but the problem is : if I reboot my
machine, the problem will come back.
How to make selinux accept nftables?
fc36 nftables version 1.0.1
Thank you for helping.
