have you tried running mpg123, followed by an exit 0? mpg123 might be
exiting non zero.

Are you sure that the redirection is being applied to the mpg123 not the
at?
Post a sample command line if you're not sure.
(My apologies if this is trivially obvious and you've already triple-
checked this...)
