version to another,
how do I "update fedora-release" ?

Download the fedora-release rpm
this should do:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/i386...
rpm -Uvh fedora-release-7-3.noarch.rpm
That should do the job.
