Hi,
This is more than likely a dumb question but I have to ask. I just moved
from Windows to Fedora a few months ago so I'm a newbie here. My stupid
question is this, can I use Windows TTF fonts in Fedora? I have about 7,000
fonts to choose from on a DVD. Can I just drag and drop a font into a font
folder like in Windows?
If I can't us them I will install the MS Core fonts this way.
I would recommend installing the MS Core fonts anyway if you tend to
use them a lot but that's only a few fonts, no where near 7000.
Additionally I'm not sure you'd want to install all 7000, that could
slow things down a bit.
I found a howto here:
http://vietunicode.sourceforge.net/howto/fontlinux.html
I would recommend creating a path somewhere similar such as
/usr/share/fonts/myfonts, copy just the fonts you use in there and
follow the howto other than for #7 I would restart the font server
properly:
service xfs restart
or
systemctl restart xfs.service
depending on what version of Fedora you use...
