Have you checked the configuration on the wireless access point or
router? My Linksys router has a firewall built into it. I have not
modified its settings and it blocks inbound ICMP.

This should've gone out ~5 hours ago. I Hope there is still a chance it

Actually the problem was in the falsity of the statement that I don't
use iptables. iptables (on saturn, the f8 machine) was on by default .
So I turned it off , ping saturn worked. host not working is a DHCP
thing.
