If you are using KDE, click the K menu and select "Find Files". It allows
searches of file names, types, attributes and contents. Quite thorough. If
you're not using KDE, you should be.
I just started using kde a few days ago. Looks like I may be 'stuck'
with it as switchdesk won't let me go back to gnome.
I found what you mentioned above and its will do exactly what I want.
When it locates a file(s) with a word or phrase and I double click,
Kwrite opens and allows me to edit the file.
