Could be some bad memory that doesn't normally get used.
I have 8 gig on my x86_64 f12 system and always do updates
with yum, never had a problem.
THought of that. Got new memory modules for it, all from the same
vendor, same batch, same speed.
Still does the same crazy thing. Drop to 4GB, and it's fine.
