I'm a long time user of Fedora + KDE/Plasma desktop but this has
never
worked: sometimes, I want to switch user from a Plasma session, i.e. I
want to open a new Plasma session while the first one still runs in
the background. When I do that, I just get a black screen.
On this laptop, I'm running Fedroa 32 with Plasma and kdm. I also have
the proprietary Nvidia driver from rpmfusion.
Has anyone ever been able to switch user correctly with Fedora? with
Plasma+kdm? Is it due to kdm, should I use another one?
Eventually, I fixed the issue!
I was using the 340xx nvidia driver instead of 390xx recommended for
my GT560M GPU.
I remember now that I had to go to 340xx a long time ago because 390xx
was not maintained anymore with kernel updates.
It now works with kdm and sddm so I switch to sddm as it is recommended.
I discovered the issue when I switched to the latest kernel and got
nvidia driver not launched (I had the wrong screen resolution, so it
was obvious that something was wrong).
However I had to blacklist nouveau, otherwise, the nvidia driver did not launch.
Thanks for help.
