The computer was shut down overnight and rebooted this morning, the servers are not
shutdown. There was no difference in the Thunar smb display symptoms after restarting this
morning.
i dnf installed Nautilus to see if it worked but it just produces a different error
message. I also tried changing some permissions on the server in what look like paths that
might contribute to my problem. no success doing that. ...
Nautilus displays:
Could Not Display "smb.local (smb)"
I can not 'locate' 'smb.local' which leaves me wondering if that is a
valid error message? J also see a similar message for a Mac portable, 'a file
name.local (smb)' instead or smb.local.
That's all I know at this point, not much, just another cryptic error message ....
I'm only up for a few minutes so my response may come a few hours later.
When you use thunar or nautilius are there any messages in the journal?
And, on the client side (WS1), what do you get for
grep ^hosts /etc/nsswitch.conf
