Thanks for the suggestion. I disabled a non-default repo and dnf remove
worked again.
The repo I disabled is found here (under installation):
https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim-plugins/wikis/OmemoGajimPlugin
which provides the python-axolotl python-axolotl-curve25519 packages.
