From some googling I've found that other users (on various linux forums) have the same problem. Two users fixed their problems but didn't bother to post their solutions.
I had this after an update, and resolved it so long ago that I don't recall the solution, other than it was installing another RPM that hadn't been pulled in as a dependency (perhaps faac-1.25-2.lvn6 or faad2-2.0-19.20050131.lvn6).
# rpm -qa *faa* faad2-2.0-19.20050131.lvn6 faac-1.25-2.lvn6
I did find an answer on the web somewhere, here's one comment about it:
"To those getting "undefined symbol: faacDecOpen": do you have libfaad2-0 installed? If not, try to install it. Some googling suggests that this could be the problem... HTH."
Thanks Tim!
As you might expect it was my own stupid fault not checking what freshrpms wanted to download (I knew better too!)
