have tried using different combination of drivers for both monitor or
video card and nothing works. This system dual boots between redhat 9
and fedora and under redhat 9 I can run 1600x1200 no problem. I tried
editing the XF86Config file by hand to give it the same settings as my
redhat install but it still goes back to 1024x768. Anyone else have this
problem or know of a resolution for it?
This happens usually because the config for the monitor is not set
correctly.
try redhat-configure-xfree86 - and choose more appropirate monitor
setting. (for example 'hardware -> Monitor Type -> Generic CRT
Display -> Monitor 1280x1024). Now you can change the resolution as
well.
