You say 3 other machines are connected via a router. What is the
gateway address used by the router for the modem connection?
This machine should likely have the same gateway, and it can get set
in the file you sent earlier. (ifcfg-eth0 I believe)
The gateway used by the router (according to ipconfig in windozeXP) is
192.168.2.1 (default). This router has a static IP of 142.179.210.24
