Even if that would have made the disk writable I wouldn't want to use two
commands each time I hook up a usb disk. And it was working before anyways.
you are using a ext4 file system....
chown youruser:yourgroup /mnt/test
If you want to use a usb disk such that anyone that plugs it in can write to it then you
need to use ntfs or another of the wonderful MS filesystems types.
