Well gdm-binary is running on my machine, but it does not appear to take
too much cpu time in top (can't even see it) nor in ps output.
Has no man page so I don't know what it does. Maybe someone else does.
[]# locate gdm-binary
/usr/sbin/gdm-binary
[]# rpm -qif /usr/sbin/gdm-binary
Name : gdm
...
So it's part of GDM, the Gnome Display Manager, a replacement for XDM. Gdm
is just a script that starts gdm-binary.
