What does bash have to do with this?
In bash it is called "sourcing". It executes
the file as if it was native code. The
command to do so is a dot
$ cat SourceExample.data
Todd=BestLookingEngineer
Sam=VerySmartLinuxGuy
$ cat SourceExample.bash
#!/usr/bin/env bash
. SourceExample.data
echo "Todd = $Todd"
echo "Sam = $Sam"
$ bash -c SourceExample.bash
Todd = BestLookingEngineer
Sam = VerySmartLinuxGuy
$ bash -x -c SourceExample.bash
+ '[' -z '' ']'
+ case "$-" in
+ __lmod_vx=x
+ '[' -n x ']'
+ set +x
+ unset __lmod_vx
+ SourceExample.bash
Todd = BestLookingEngineer
Sam = VerySmartLinuxGuy

I think Jonathon's point was that the docs say to use a comma, not a
space for making the list. But maybe a space works as well.
I always have used a space. Someday, maybe I will try both.
