Even somebody else suggested that. But to use that my system should have a
file like ifcfg-kppp under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ which it
doesn't have.

hotplug event - inserting pcmcia wifi card
by Brian Johnson
In RH9 when I inserted my pcmcia wifi card or restarted the computer, the wifi
card would automatically do an ifup ethx
With Fedora I have to do it manually
I noticed a slight difference in /etc/hotplug/net.agent between the two distro
versions and it looks like Fedora requires a HWADDR entry in the
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-x info that matches the card's MAC
address
Could someone confirm this please

Can't run alsamixer and can't get sound from xawtv
by Gerrit
Hello,
I'm unable to run alsamixer:

What's happening? I do have sound, but not in xawtv.
I figured it might be a
My sound card is a intel8x0 chiptset, module snd_intel8x0.
I'm having tv card problems also...
I can get video but I'm unable to get audio output. The autodection of
my Pinnacle PCTV Studio/Rave is fine. For sound, I have an Intel 810

I read the Sound FAQ [0], but I didn't find an answer to my question.
I've seen that people have used this TV card in the past without
problems. At usenet, I read something about "you may need to
unmute line in', but I'm afraid I don't understand what that means.
Is it possible that it has something to do with ALSA?
Can someone help me?
Gerrit.

RAID level 5 question
by Prilly
Hi!
I'm thinking about setting up a software raid level 5.
Is it possible to start with 3 HDs and then later add more?
I mean, without loosing the data on the first 3 HDs.
Regards,
Daniel

That is an issue! I closed the terminal and pppd process was on till I was
surprised when I received a reply mail to the mail I had just sent. When I
looked up the process table pppd was on.I haven't tried it again as now I
have broken the link between kppp and consolehelper to make it point
direct to the kppp program (somebody suggested that on the list ) and set
permissions and group ownership so that I can replicate dial up settings
on each user separately. That is more practical as other members in the
family are not as familiar.
I can alternatively use webmin to connect which in the backend uses wvdial.
Thanx everybody who helped giving diff suggestions.

Yes, I definitely would like somebody to point me to online manual page
about iconifying applications(Desktop link to applications) and Run a
Command.I am not clear about all the options there.
