current state of ati graphics
by Ian Malone
Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card and for the past few
iterations have gone with Nvida, mostly because they provided a
working linux driver with 3D acceleration; most people I knew with ATI
chipsets had problems with their drivers at one time or another (and
for a long time only older cards were supported). Since AMD have
apparently released the specs needed to write an open driver for them
I thought it might be worth supporting them this time around, but I'm
not sure what the current state of ATI support looks like. I'd guess
there has been long enough for an accelerated driver to make it into
the kernel, but I see that there is also a recent release of their
proprietary driver. What are people's recent experiences with ATI? I
wouldn't be looking for the highest end card, just something that can
happily run compiz and flash videos 1280x1024. The nvidia I'm
considering are around the 8500 / 9400 mark.
Thanks for your time.

How do I display the uuid for /dev/sdb?
system-config-lvm displays it in a tiny red
font unreadable even with a magnifier.

brasero as default app for burning over nautilus-cd-burner
by Yordanis Tornes Medina
Hi, a few days ago I installed brasero. I always burn my data disc (CD or DVD) using nautilus-cd-burner, good for me. I test bresero burning an iso image and in a point of burning process brasero ask if I want use brasero as defaul app burning. Brasero replace nautilus-cd-burner and now I can't use nautilus-cd-burner for burning data disc. I uninstall brasero and I can user nautilus-cd-burner again, reinstall brasero and brasero replace again nautilus-cd-burner.
Any idea to turn back brasero configuration?
Thank's

Any Netbook Kernels
by Alex Bennee
Does anyone in the Fedora project package kernels for any of the
netbooks (or failing that the latest vanilla kernel)? My Samsung NC-10
has a few minor issues with keys that are fixed in the latest vanilla
tree.
As kernel compiles take a while on a Netbook and I don't have any
other RPM systems to build on I was wondering if I could save a long
compile :)
On another topic has anyone managed to successfully create a kernel
git tree that reflects an RPM based kernel? I'm playing with rpm2git
at the moment but I haven't managed to get it to work for a kernel RPM
yet.

of kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686-180.22-1.fc10.i686 conflicts with
file from package kmod-nvidia-2.6.27.9-159.fc10.i686-177.82-1.fc10.7.i686
Upon my last upgrade emerald will no longer load. I am assuming that
