Wireless Adapter Issues
by Matthew Tuori
Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire 4720z. It has an Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001
Wireless Network Adapter. When I first installed F14 the wireless was
working fine. About a week later it stopped working. Even when it says that
wireless is enabled, it does not see any wireless networks. If I use the
soft button on my keyboard to swap the network lock, the hard lock will
change to disabled, and nothing is able to change it back. I have tried
reinstalling Fedora, searched online for similar experiences and tried using
rfkill, yet nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Matt

how to disable gpgcheck on command line with yum install?
by Dave Stevens
I'd like to try out LibreOffice so I downloaded and unpacked the rpms into a
new folder and following the readme instructions did
# su -c 'yum install *.rpm'
which produced a long list of packages and depchecks, apparently successfully
but then gave:
Install 50 Package(s)
Total size: 436 M
Installed size: 436 M
Is this ok [y/N]: y
Downloading Packages:
Package libobasis3.3-en-US-base-3.3.0-6.x86_64.rpm is not signed
[dave@davehost RPMS]$
I know how to disable gpg checking in a .repo file but don't know how to deal
with it here where there doesn't seem to be one. Ideas? F14 if it matters.
Dave

Re: FC14 Installation Hangs
by Jackson Byers
this suggestion is long shot.
Back when I was an install newbie, on f10
the install would always fail upon trying to bring up X.
None of the usual kernel things like vesa= worked.
No further ideas from this list ( this list was critical to me getting this
far).
Finally I found via googling someone suggesting
adding
vga=792
that did it !, X up and running

I am installing from DVD.
I am installing as

After a number of screens of error messages, the computer freezes with
the following final message.

Any advice on how to proceed / trouble shoot appreciated.

Can't permanently disable SELinux warning for Wine.
by linux guy
I am running a flight simulator under Wine.
Everything works OK, except that SELinux detects a problem when it
starts up.
==============================================
The source process: /usr/bin/wine-preloader
Attempted this access: nmap_zero
On this memprotect: <nothing>
==============================================
OK.
I'd like to disable this warning. In the SELinux Alert Browser, it
tells me to
=======================================================
You must tell SELinux about this by enabling the wine_mmap_zero_ignore
boolean.
# setsebool -P wine_mmap_zero_ignore 1
======================================================
That is all well and good, but when I issue the command (as root), it
hangs. Only Ctrl C will terminate the command.
However, if I omit the "-P", it works. However, I have to rerun it all
the time.
Why does the command hang ?
Thanks !
