Opensource dicom viewer
by Gregory P. Ennis
Dear List,
Do any of you have an opensource dicom viewer that works on F15? dicom
files are customarily used to store radiographic medical images.
I have been unable to compile the source code for aeskulap or kradview,
and before I tried any more packages I thought I would see if any of you
have been able to do this.

grub-install /dev/sda problems.
by Mickey
F15
Setup F15 hard drive on a different computer /dev/sda and sent hard
drive to a friend to put in his computer as /dev/sdb , behind WindowsXp
and went into the rescue mode to run grub-install /dev/sda , getting a
error message;
"Does not have any corresponding BIOS drive".
Drive is recognized by BIOS as a Slave.
I guess the Device map is different and causing problems, How do I fix
this to get boot sector on /dev/sda

RaLink 5370 USB Wifi Dongle
by Kevin Cummings
The WiFi in my laptop gave up the ghost. Doesn't matter what card I put
in the mini PCIe slot, the system doesn't think anything is there.
So, I bought one of those "new" $7 Wifi dongles for the USB port.
Surprisingly small! 802.11n capable as well!
The problem? It appears in the lsusb list:
> Bus 001 Device 007: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp.
But, nothing appears as a Wifi Device.
One Wifi email list suggested that it would be supported by the rt2x00
driver, but modprobing that driver does not recognize the device.
The RaLink site has 2 drivers that *should* support it: rt2870usb and
rt2870sta.
I found that RPMFusion packages version 2.4.0 of the rt2870 driver, but
there is no entry for the 148f:5370, so no network device gets created.
Not even when I add an entry for it to:
/lib/modules/2.6.25.14-96.fc14.x86_64/modules.usbmap
The final step I tried was to download the 2.5.0.2 driver from RaLink,
and build it locally. It builds, but it doesn't build an installable
kernel module:
> # insmod rt5370sta.ko
> insmod: error inserting 'rt5370sta.ko': -1 Unknown symbol in module
Anyone have one of these running in their system yet?
I'm looking forward to seeing an ra0 device that I can use as my wifi
connection!

strange behaviour of my desktop
by antonio montagnani
after two hours of operation my Fedora 15 shuts down and system reboots
byitself suddenly: I was thinking that it was at the end of his life,
but I noticed after rebooting that I was already logged as user and I
got a message about Selinux stating that some cups/backend/hp could not
write somewhere (I deleted the message by mistake).Any comment?

Disk Sleep ??
by Mickey
F15 Starting Firefox and computer freezes for about 30 sec. and Monitor
shows "Disk Sleep"
Below is /var/log/messages, this output happens through out messages.
I also ran a long term Hard Disk test on /dev/sda with smartctl and
that output is shown below.
Any Ideals ??

Thank you Hiisi, for the prompt response. I executed the instruction you
give me, the fallows is the result
[Vinny@Lab2 ~]$ su -c "yum --enablerepo=remi update firefox"
Password:
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Adding en_US to language list
Error getting repository data for remi, repository not found
[Vinny@Lab2 ~]$
I also checked on http://blog.famillecollet.com/pages/Config-en
but i don't see any thing about Firefox.

Minor update question
by Joe Zeff
I just started an update of Fedora 14 by yumex, and it listed ntfsprogs
2011.4.12-5.fc14 twice. Both are from updates and are the same size.
I'm sure this is harmless, but does anybody know what's going on?
