F20: HDMI + Win+P == GDM black screen
by Pedro Francisco
So, I've used HDMI for the first time this weekend.
I have pressed Win+P a few times which resulted in a black screen
(turned off, I guess).
Suspending and resuming would turn on the internal monitor again (I
had the session running so it was easy).
But now, after a warm reboot, my GDM is a black screen. Inputting the
password appears to login on the session.
Since this is a GDM issue, I need to find out where GDM stores it's
monitor settings -- gconftool-2 recursive-unset on the user-side
didn't work.
So, questions:
a) where does GDM store its monitor settings?
b) what is going on here:
b1) is there a bug report?
b2) any tips on what words to use on the bug report and on what
component to assign?
Hardware:
8086:0416 (Intel HD Graphics 4600 -- HDMI should be connected to this
one, since NVIDIA is always off on Linux)
10DE:0FE4 (NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M -- always disabled on boot via
manual call on rc.local to bbswitch )
Software:
up-to-date Fedora 20.
Thanks in Advance,

set NTP servers in Date & Time settings?
by patrick korsnick
Hi all,
Does anyone know if Gnome3 did away with the ability to set your NTP
servers in the Date and Time control panel? I remember you used to be able
to do this, but can't remember if it was on Gnome2xx or was a feature that
originally existed in Gnome3 on fedora.
Thanks!

nvidia driver on fedora 20 / GTX460M
by Rafnews
Hi,
after i followed the tutorial from
http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2014/fedora-20-nvidia-guide/ about
installing nVidia driver for my ASUS G73SW laptop (with a GTX460M nvidia
card), i'm getting blocked at boot time of fedora 20.
i used this configuration (without nvidia driver) for 2 weeks without
any problem.
and now when it loads Fedora, it stops at different steps:
1. Starting Network Manager Script Dispatcher Service
or
2. Started Hostname Service
or
3. ASAHI mDNS/DNS-SD Stack
in fact it is randomly... :( but it seems everytime just after GNOME
Desktop initialisation.
i chose kmod as suggested in the tutorial for a better kernel update
later on.
so what is the problem ? can i get back to working status ?
at boot time i selected previous working kernel but it stops anyway.
thx for help.

Frustrating upgraded behaviour
by Ambrogio De Lorenzo
Hi all,
I'm a little frustrated.
In Fedora 20, updated, with the new kernel my udev rule for eth0 is no
more working. Booting with old kernel it's ok. As I have a lot of VM
that point to eth0, I'm booting with the old kernel.
But with the old kernel LibreOffice is hanging on start. It starts only
if I open a File already created.
If I try to open Calc or Writer, it hangs opening it.
The only way is to kill them.
What is appening.
Bye

Libreoffice issues after last libreoffice update
by CS DBA
Running F20 and KDE, updated libre office. Now if I open by clicking on
libre office writer I get a window outline with the background from my
desktop in the window, it's not quite a transparent window cause if I
move it the portion of the desktop background moves with it...
It never comes back... If iI click on the close window icon then after
about 30seconds I get the KDE message that the app is not responding
asking me to choose from 'terminate' or 'wait longer'
However if I navigate via Dolphin to an existing open office file (and I
do not currently have a broken window as described above running) then
it opens immediately as expected
Thoughts?

fedup 19=>20 hangs: selinux
by sean darcy
Trying to upgrade F19 to F20 using fedup. On the upgrade reboot it hangs:
............
Reached target Initrd Default Target
systemd-journal1d166]: Received SIGTERM
systemd[1]: Failed to initialize SELinux context: no such file or directory
selinux is set to permissive. F19 works fine.
I suppose I could set selinux=0 , but then none of the contexts would be
set. Correct?

Forcing telnet to use IPv6
by Robert Moskowitz
Many howtos I find for Telnet and IPv6 say to use the '-6' option. Well
no such option exists in the Fedora telnet client.
I know if the host is ONLY accessable via v6, Telnet will use v6. But
how do I force the client when the server is listening on both stacks?

Thanks very much all for the improved voting app. Much easier than last
year. Can you clarify the meaning of the numbers, though? Is 0 "no interest"
and 15 "definitely want"?
