RDKit
by Hiisi
Hello.
Does anyone uses RDKit here? Seems it's been broken for a while and not
updated for fedora. I can't install it with dnf:
$ sudo dnf install rdkit
[sudo] password for hiisi:
Last metadata expiration check: 0:44:32 ago on Thu 17 Jan 2019 01:30:16 PM
EST.
Error:
Problem: conflicting requests
- nothing provides libboost_serialization.so.1.63.0 needed by
rdkit-2016.09.4-2.fc26.i686
- nothing provides libboost_system.so.1.63.0()(64bit) needed by
rdkit-2016.09.4-2.fc26.x86_64
I have boost0system installed (boost-system-1.66.0-8.fc28.x86_64) and I saw
somewhere that the issue had been fixed in rdkit-2017. So, does anyone use
rdkit on latest fedoras? How do I install it?

kbibtex Issue
by Richard Kimberly Heck
I have tried to find some other place to ask questions about kbibtex,
but have struck out, so if anyone knows....
I've grown frustrated with JabRef, due to display problems on different
systems, and so am looking for a new bibliography manager. I've found
kbibtex quite useful, but now I've found a real annoyance: It seems to
`translate' such LaTeX constucts as --, \'a, etc, to –, á, etc, which
breaks the compilation of some of my documents (and was a total hassle
to revert). So far as I can tell, there is no option to turn this off,
but maybe I'm missing it? It seems a very strange thing to do by default.
If there isn't an option to suppress this, I may try to create a patch....

Failed to start Load Kernel Modules.
by Sudhir Khanger
Hello,
I get *Failed to start Load Kernel Modules* during the boot.
Everytime Kernel is updated VirtualBox modules fail I have to reboot into
the new Kernel, run the following commands and then it starts working.
$ sudo akmods --force
$ sudo dracut -v -f
$ sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg
Then everything starts working again and the boot error goes away. You can
found the background of the issue in the link below.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1254340
My question is how can I automate this task.

Weird keyboard behavior in terminal on Fedora 29
by Justin Garrison
I recently installed Fedora 29 on my laptop (Dell Latitude) in some situations my ctrl keys on my external keyboard don't work inside a terminal. I cannot copy/paste (ctrl+shift+c/v) or activate nerdtree in vim (ctrl+n) however tmux commands work fine (ctrl+b).
I thought there was something wrong with my setup but the internal keyboard works just fine in all of the situations the external keyboard does not. I then suspected my keyboard but the ctrl keys work in every other situation that I have found (e.g. copy/paste from a text editor).
The same keyboard worked on Fedora 21-24 and also works on my arch linux system as expected.
Is there something I can do to troubleshoot what is going on?
I can see the keypress with xev which appears to be exactly the same as the keypress with the internal keyboard.
KeyRelease event, serial 37, synthetic NO, window 0x3000001,
root 0x2ae, subw 0x0, time 118641087, (1190,1006), root:(1230,1133),
state 0x2004, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False
The X11 conf looks correct
$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/00-keyboard.conf
# Written by systemd-localed(8), read by systemd-localed and Xorg. It's
# probably wise not to edit this file manually. Use localectl(1) to
# instruct systemd-localed to update it.
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "system-keyboard"
MatchIsKeyboard "on"
Option "XkbLayout" "us,us"

I have no idea what the gdbus introspect output means

running start-up script using systemd
by Danishka Navin
Hi,
I have written a script which suppose to run at start-up and set a given IP.
I can see systemd service is running when I check the status but I can find
the expected result (new IP).
Is there anything wrong with the following format of the service file?
[Unit]
Description=Config IP
ConditionFileIsExecutable=<path_to_script>/script
After=network.target
StartLimitIntervalSec=0
[Service]
ExecStart=<path_to_script>/script
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
Is it ok to restart network service with the script I use?
Regards,

Smallest Fedora box to use as gateway/firewall/VPN
by Alex
Hi,
I need a gateway for our new office. I'd like it to run Fedora. What
are my options? I'd like to be able to do the following:
- provide VPN back to the main office
- provide basic masquerading of hosts on inside network
- be small enough to fit on a shelf. Preferably fanless
- web-based administration
- ssh access
We're experienced admins, so a simple interface isn't specifically
necessary, but desired.
It's only for a few remote office workers, so it doesn't have to be
particularly powerful, but should be responsive enough to support
regular ssh and VPN activity.
Thanks,
Alex

PTZ camera control -
by Bob Goodwin
.
Does anyone have experience with software for use with Amcrest cameras.
I am able to view the rtsp video with vlc and Fedora 29 but that does
not provide control for the other functions such as pan and tilt.
We can control them with an iPhone or iPad but I would like to do it
from my Linux desktop.

The last package, 4.19.13-300 isn't highlighted. It also doesn't show in

How do I get it to boot again ?
Thanks
