I meant the files you created for the normal user. You have
to repeat the process for root as well. If you have
switchdesk installed you can execute 'swetchdesk gnome' as root.

Yes, I did that. Still doesn't work.
After I do a crtl-alt-backspace to kill the server, I see a message:
FATAL: Module agpgart not found
[drm] failed to load kernel module
It looks like something may not be loading in runlevel 3.
Any ideas?
