file triggers in rawhide
by Matthias Clasen
Hey,
I've added file triggers for a number of desktop things:
- gsettings schemas
- gio modules
- desktop files
- mime types
- gdk-pixbuf loaders
- gtk im modules
If you are updating a desktop package in rawhide that uses any of
glib-compile-schemas, gio-querymodules, update-desktop-database, update
-mime-database, gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders or gtk-query-immodules-3.0 in
its %post, %postun or %posttrans, you can simply drop those calls - the
file triggers will take care of things.
For the time being, it might be a good idea to add a dependency on a
new-enough build of the package(s) whose file triggers you are using.
Here is a representative commit:

when battery power is critical
by Chris Murphy
On Fedora 22 cleanly installed, this is what I see in Settings > Power:
Automatic suspend: Off
When battery power is critical: Hibernate
There are no choices, those are fixed settings that I can't change.
The actual behavior I see when the battery gets critical though, is
suspend, not hibernate. First there is a message the machine is about
to be hibernated, but then:
Sep 27 02:45:38 f22m.localdomain systemd-sleep[4960]: Suspending system...
I get the same results with Fedora 23, with one exception in Settings
> Power "When battery power is critical: Hibernate" is not listed at
all, just that automatic suspend is off.
Anyway, the system suspends, but there is no battery power so the
suspend to RAM is lost, and it's entirely possible if not likely that
there will be data loss or fs corruption as a result.
Also cc'ing test@ because I'm not seeing a test case for this. It
seems to me that out of the box we shouldn't be risking people's data
like this, but it's not like poweroff -f is a whole lot better (except
for the fs portion).

Fedora 23 beta observations: the Utilities folder in the Applications view
by Elad Alfassa
Hi,
I noticed we now install the new Characters app by default, which is great.
However, wouldn't it make more sense if it'd go in the Utilities folder,
where the old one used to live?
Additionally I noticed Disks also found its way out of the Utilities
folder, which also feels weird. It should probably go back to Utilities as
well
What do you think?

Hi Folks! First post to this list - I'm a long time Debian user who
wanted to try out the latest Gnome-Shell.
I've got everything I want/need installed, bar the two applications
mentioned in my subject line.
How does one get these via repo? Also another question if I may - what
is the default package manager for Fedora. I have 4 software mgrs:
"Software", Package Manager, Yum Extender and Yum Extender-DNF. What's
the difference between the 2 Yum Mgrs?
Thanks.
If this is the wrong list, please let me know.

Hey everyone. We're getting down to the crunch on this and Joe can't do
it alone. I'm going to set aside a block of time (say, 17:00-19:00 UTC)
tomorrow to hack on this. Join me in #fedora-mktg if you're able to
help -- or just put things in the wiki. It doesn't even really need to
be polished... need content first.
Desktop, Server, Cloud WG people -- we could really use your help with
talking points. What are the coolest, best-selling features from your
point of view? (For reference, the Alpha annoucement is
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F23_Alpha_release_announcement.) it's
fine, but not super-exciting. Can we do better?

Okay, so, looking to be in much better shape. Thanks everyone! I have
some other thing to wrap up today but will check back over the weekend
and work on Monday on final polish for the Tuesday announcement.
Cloud WG -- still need some more there, though!
