They didn't describe the Advanced-Custom layout at all. I get no
indication they chose the existing ESP or creating a new one, and
assigning it to /boot/efi. Based on the error message, I'm supremely
confident they didn't do that. And that automatic/guided path would
have worked.
Oh, I think I misread a bit. I was reading the quoted text in
https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/problems-making-dual-boot-fedora-w10/10766/3
as part of the reporter's description, but I think it may be quoted
from the article mattdm linked to and the OP is just saying they don't
find it to be enough information.
If so, then yeah, we don't really have any info about what they tried
to do and it's most likely that they did it wrong, and that guided
partitioning would've worked fine.
